Class: Intro to Prop Design

Professor: Miranda Cisneros

For this project, I cut two connected pieces of styrofoam, then used a knife to cut out the shape of the handle. I used scissors to shape the styrofoam, then coated it in air dry clay and modeling paste to fill the holes. I then added more modeling paste and created the ridges on the handle. After sanding, I used different shades of brown to add texture. For the head, I balled up some newspaper, then sculpted the skull from air dry clay. Once it was dry, I used gray and white to paint it. I connected the two pieces with E6000 and a wooden stick that went down into the handle. I then painted the base, and added the red resin beads that I placed inside large jump rings. I used hot glue, silicone molds and gold spray paint to create the fancy adornments on the gold area.
